The violence is not believed to have stopped in Khejuri in East Medinipur district. An attempt was made to burn a Trinamool Congress worker to death by tying him to a tree, while a BJP worker's house was burnt in Tikasi area of Khejuri late on Monday night.
In connection with this incident, political wrangling started again. The BJP claims that Trinamool men carried out the incident in the dark of night. In fact, the Trinamool Congress won the panchayat election in Tikashi area of Khejuri.
BJP claims that Trinamool Congress people are celebrating their victory by burning houses of BJP workers. However, the local Trinamool leadership claims that the BJP is staging a drama.
Uttam Barik and other Trinamool leaders came to Chatanbadi village on Monday. The BJP alleges that these leaders incited the Trinamool Congress people. Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Gopal Pal's Mandal house and shop were torched after this late night. After receiving the information, the police of Khejuri police station rushed to the spot. The Trinamool, however, rejected the BJP's allegations.
